Workshops & Guest Lectures

We learn differently, explore deeper, and choose what we love.

New experiences and activities

Twice a year, once in each semester, regular classes at PKG are replaced by workshop activities. The primary purpose of the Open Class Week is to enable students to pursue interests that cannot be met within regular instruction. Therefore, learning and teaching during this week are open to new experiences, spaces, and activities. Some of these take place at school, and some outside of it; some are research-oriented, some artistic, some involve extensive hands-on work, and some involve various forms of interaction with the natural and social environment.

Open Class Weeks are of two types. Some are entirely diverse and depend solely on students’ wishes and the school’s organizational capabilities. Others are thematic, meaning that individual workshops address different aspects of a common theme. Some of these themes are related to specific historical periods (Ancient Rome, Middle Ages, 19th Century, The Twenties, The Sixties, The Eighties), others to geographical and cultural spaces (The Silk Road, The Wild West, Zagreb, Spain), and a third group to the world of art (Muses, Film, Theatre Plays, Heritage), while the last two (Far, Yet Near and Christmas Video Card), with their hybrid online editions, serve as a testament to both the limitations and possibilities during the time of Corona.

Over 25 years of existence, we are proud of the rich array of thematically and content-wise diverse projects we have accomplished with the great support of parents and external collaborators, including many former students of our school.
