We hosted Mislav Petrušić for a lecture on recycling

Our school was visited by Mislav Petrušić, who delivered a lecture on recycling that introduced this topic to students in an engaging and truly understandable way. Instead of general messages, the lecture was tailored specifically for our audience, with examples from everyday life and questions that immediately sparked discussion.

Recycling: Debunking Myths

We discussed the true nature of recycling, as well as common misconceptions. Through concise examples and scenarios from both school and home, students gained a clearer understanding of why proper sorting is crucial and how minor errors can compromise an entire bin.

What Happens to Waste After the Bin

One of the most intriguing segments explored the journey of waste after disposal. We examined what happens next, what can be processed, what ultimately becomes a problem, and why it is sometimes more effective to reduce waste than to rely solely on recycling.

Small Habits That Make a Big Difference

  • Students received practical ideas that can be implemented immediately:
  • sort waste correctly and completely (avoiding the “everything in one” approach)
  • reduce packaging whenever possible
  • reuse items that still serve a purpose
  • think before purchasing and before discarding

The Best Part: It Was Engaging

The lecture had excellent energy, and Mislav successfully made the topic both entertaining and relevant, specifically for our students. There were many questions, numerous “aha” moments, and a sense that real change is possible, without grand or unrealistic plans.

We extend our gratitude to Mislav Petrušić for his visit and inspiration. We look forward to exploring new topics that encourage students to think critically, act responsibly, and take concrete steps.
