1. English Theater: The Great Gatsby at Scenoteca
We attended a performance of The Great Gatsby in English. We enjoyed the atmosphere, pacing, and story, as well as the most rewarding aspect of language learning: having to follow, understand, and internalize meaning through acting, movement, and emotion.
The play is part of a program organized by ARTED NET, which brings touring actors to Zagreb and offers a theatrical experience that is both educational and truly entertaining.
2. Major Exhibition: 1100 Years of the Croatian Kingdom at Klovićevi Dvori
After the theater, we proceeded to Klovićevi Dvori for the ‘1100 Years of the Croatian Kingdom’ exhibition. This offered an excellent opportunity to experience history through spaces, artifacts, and narratives, rather than merely through dates. Students had the chance to connect their learning with the cultural identity and heritage that surrounds them.
3. A Little More of Zagreb: A Fun Museum as the Finishing Touch
We concluded the day with a visit to an engaging museum, the type of place where curiosity is naturally sparked. Such destinations are perfect for a relaxed end to the day, filled with laughter, conversation, and the satisfying realization that Zagreb truly serves as a classroom.
Zagreb as a Classroom
We cherish days like this because they demonstrate what school can be when learning occurs through experience, movement, culture, and collective engagement.
