Field Trips & Travel

We learn best when we travel, explore, and connect what we see with what we know.

Collaboration and bonding

Educational travel is a form of learning through which students acquire various knowledge and skills outside the school environment. Itineraries are designed to enable encounters with diverse valuable aspects of the natural world and cultural heritage. During educational travel, students work on individual and group tasks that are designed not only to facilitate the acquisition of different types of knowledge in the narrow sense, but also to strengthen the development of cognitive, communication, and social skills and stimulate curiosity. An important aspect of educational travel is, of course, collaboration and bonding.

Each educational trip is partly open to various cultural and natural content discovered at specific locations, while another part aims to connect these diverse contents through a specific focus. For example, the focus of the first educational trip is the Croatian Middle Ages, so a large part of the student tasks is content-wise related to the medieval understanding of the world, ways of its manifestation in church and monastery architecture, as well as to Glagolitic culture, which is an important aspect of Croatian medieval period.

The PKG curriculum includes seven educational trips. First-year students go to the northern Adriatic at the beginning of the school year, and to Istria at the end of the school year. In the second year, educational trips take place in Dalmatia. Third-year students first go to the northern and eastern parts of Croatia, and then to Italy, while graduating students spend their last educational trip in Greece.
